At the tender age of 9 years young, DAM taekwondoin Ruby Mifsud became one of the youngest Maltese practitioners to achieve her 1st Poom during the July 2021 Dan Gradings held by the Malta Taekwondo Association, spearheaded by technical board director Grand Master Chris Vella. The “Poom” is the title given to young practitioners who achieve their black belt under the age of 16.
Ruby’s success means that she now joins her brother Reuben, sister Rachel, and father (and DAM instructor) Emvin as a black belt in the Mifsud family! Her success is a testament to the love, dedication and commitment that the family has towards both Taekwondo and Hapkimudo. Rest assured that Sabomnim Emvin is beaming with joy at what his children have achieved, and we are in turn extremely proud of his commitment and passion which is now evidently bearing the fruits of his labor. Finally, although not a practitioner herself, we’re positive that wife Paulanne’s support towards her kicking-family definitely made a huge contribution to all of their success!
Make no mistake however, despite the family support, today we are celebrating charismatic Ruby’s individual achievement as a 1st Poom Taekwondoin. She successfully passed all her obstacles, some mentally and some in the form of wooden boards! Congratulations Ruby, your journey has just begun!
