History
Dragon Academy Malta, former Taekwondo Dragon Club, was originally founded by Master Christopher Vella soon after the establishment of the Malta Taekwondo Federation (MTF) in 1995.
Stephen Formosa together with Johann Cini were then the first two instructors entrusted with the mission of propagating Taekwondo in Malta, in line with the MTF’s Constitution. Therefore, Taekwondo Dragon Club had been recognised as the 2nd official club in Malta by the MTF.
Shortly, Stephen Formosa took over also the management of this club and was later assisted by his fiancée (now his wife) Josianne.
During the course of time the club had constantly worked towards the propagation and development of Taekwondo and had moulded a number of the finest instructors and athletes that made a name for the local Taekwondo.
In 2012 Stephen Formosa together with Master Christopher Vella had established the Malta Hapkimudo Association under the auspices of Master Kang-Jong Lee, and which is now being rebaptized as Dragon Hapkimudo as part of the new corporate identity.
Today, the academy has revamped itself with a clear mission of promoting a healthy lifestyle through martial arts, sports, fitness training and educational programmes, thus it has expanded its activities. To undertake such tasks, Dragon Academy has at present four main instructors whom together as a team ensures to keep high standards of education and training modalities.
