During the first weekend of March 2019, local Taekwondo students and instructors had the chance to attend a seminar conducted by Master Hwang, 8th Dan Grand Master from Korea. Grand Master Hwang is also a volunteer with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), a Korean governmental agency which sends Taekwondo experts around the world to promote the practice of Taekwondo. In fact, KOICA has been sending taekwondo volunteers to developing countries in Asia and Africa since 1972, to teach people about the Korean martial art.
The technical-oriented seminar was split into two parts. The first hour and a half was aimed at a more general level, while the second hour and a half was aimed towards Black Belt level students and instructors. Master Hwang broke down all patterns leading to 1st Dan into their basic components, and focused on little details which in fact make a significant difference both to Poomsae competition level, as well as for the sake of performing the patterns correctly as they were intended.
We thank Master Hwang for sharing his knowledge with all of us and thank all participating practitioners for attending this free event.
An intraclub seminar conducted by Grand Master Hwang. Thanks to Master Joseph Azzopardi for providing his time slot and providing the necessary space. Thanks to all attended especially other club instructors.
