FRESH out of their massive participation at the 2018 Junior World Championships in Hammamet, Tunisia, our two junior elite athletes Kylie and Jerome passed on their knowledge and sparring experience to another aspiring generation of athletes, just in time for the national MTF April Cup.
Aimed specifically for our kids age group, the session consisted of some of the latest drills and exercises being used at the highest level of sports Taekwondo. Apart from the strength and conditioning aspect of the sport, the constant changing of the rules creates new trends in the form of techniques and tactics being used in the game. Usually, these trends are popularised due to the fact that they tend to score more points with the current ruleset.
Finally, our Junior athletes concluded by sharing their experience at the world’s biggest bi-annual Taekwondo sparring event. Naturally, it was incredibly enjoyable for both of them, experiencing a new culture, mixing and mingling with other athletes from different countries, exploring a new country, and just being part of what is an incredibly organised event. Moving on to the competition aspect, one could see in person what dedication and commitment to training means in person, especially during the final bouts of each category.
We are very proud of these two young athletes for their performance, especially considering the timeframe by which they had to work to prepare for the competition, which they made the absolute most out of. Their commitment is definitely a valuable trait which our younger generation can look up to.
