Once again, our young lads showcased their skills and competitive spirit on foreign soil, this time in Estonia, during the second edition of the highly competitive European Small States Taekwondo Championships, held between 23 and 24 April in the capital city of Tallinn.
Nathan Degiorgio and Luke Chircop competed in the Juniors Male -55 Kgs and Cadets Boys -57 kgs, respectively, each placing on the podium. For Chircop, it was his first gold in such a prestigious tournament by winning his two fights. He defeated his first opponent from Cyprus 2-0 with point gap in both rounds. In the second and final fight, Chircop concealed his 1st place on the podium after defeating another athlete from Cyprus 2-0.
Degiorgio’s first fight was against his Maltese counterpart, who hails from the Iron Taekwondo League. He emerged victorious, defeating his opponent 2-1. Sadly, he lost his second fight against a stronger opponent from Cyprus.
Once again, we would like to thank the Malta Taekwondo Association for its support.
